RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSA was a Bengali saint . His early name was Gadadhar Chattopadhyaya . A devote of the goddess Kali and a teacher of Advaita Vedanta Hinduism , which contains the beliefs of Smartism , a denomination of Hinduism , he preached that "all religious lead to the same goal ." He placed "spiritual religion" above "blind ritualism ."
Sri Ramakrishna paramahamsa was born on 17 February 1836, in the village of Kamarpukur, in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, His parents were Khudiram Chattopadhyay and Chandramani Devi were poor and made ends meet with great difficulty. According to his followers, Sri Ramakrishna's parents experienced supernatural incidents and visions before his birth. his father Khudiram had a dream in which Lord Vishnu, said that he would be born as his son. His mother Chandramani Devi is said to have had a vision of light entering her womb from Shiva's temple.
Gadadhar was the pet of the whole village . He was handsome and had a natural gift for the fine arts. He, however , dislike going to school, not intrested in earning money only. He loved Nature and spent his time in fields and fruit gardens outside the village with his friends . He was seen visiting monks who stopped at his village on their way to Puri. He would serve them and listen . with rapt attention to the arguments they often had among themselves over religious issues.
Ramkumar , his eldest brother and now the head of the family after the passing away of their father in 1843 . Ramkumar started a Sanskrit school in Kolkata and also served as a priest. He moved to Kolkata in 1852 with his elder brother Ramkumar to assist in the priestly work.
In 1855 Ramkumar became the priest of Dakshineswar Kali Temple and Ramkrishna became his assistant . In 1856 Ramkumar died , the Ramkrishna took his place of priest.
After Ramkumar's death , Ramkrishna spent his most of time in spiritual activity and do continously Meditation for many days , after he got a vision of Goddess kali .
Ramakrishna's mother and his elder brother Rameswar decided to get Ramakrishna married, because rumored spread in Kamarpukur that Ramkrishna spent his most of time in spiritual activity . So , his mother thinking marriage would be good steadying influence upon him . He got marriage with Five-year old bride Saradamani Mukhopadhyaya (later known as Sarada devi) .They later spent three months together in Kamarpukur. Ramakrishna became a very influential figure in Sarada's life, and she became a strong follower of his teachings.
While Ramakrishna was a temple priest at Dakshineswar, itinerant sadhus could come and stay for a while, practicing their particular mode of worship. Several of these people became Ramakrishna's teachers in the various schools of Hinduism.He had grown up practicing Bhakti to Rama. His duties as priest at the Dakshineswar temple led him to practice worship of Mother Kali.
By influenced he follow "Ram Bhakti" ; "Vaishnav Bhakti" ; "Totapuri and Vedanta" ; "Islam and Christinity". After more than a decade of sadhana in various religious paths he realized the path going to the God .
He had many disciple like "Swami Brahmananda" ; "Swami Abhedananda" ; "Swami Ramakrishnananda" ; "Swami Nirmalananda" ; "Swami Turiyananda" and others. out of which Swami Vivekananda became most influental followers of Ramkrishna . Vivekananda establish the Ramkrishna order.
In the beginning of the 1885 he suffering from the throat cancer. He moved Kolkata for diagnosing . During his last days, he was looked after by his monastic disciples and Sarada Devi. Ramakrishna was advised by the doctors to keep the strictest silence, but ignoring their advice, he talk with visitors. Ramkrishna asked Vivekanada to lead his disciple . Ramakrishna's condition gradually worsened, and he died in the early morning hours of 16 August 1886 at the Cossipore garden house.
His Ideology are lead by his disciple and many peoples around the world follow it .
